Our government at work

So, I thought it might be helpful to have a member of Congress inquire into my I600 case.  Not so much.  All they did was send an email to Hanoi and HCMC asking what the status of my case was and then when they got the form letter from the Embassy saying that they don’t give updates and, by the way, we’re just doing this to help the orphans, they called the inquiry complete.  When I asked if they would actually try to contact someone personally, they said, “but, the letter says that they don’t give updates”.  I know there are a lot of proactive staffers on the Hill and in regional offices.  Do they just not work in the offices of Senators Grassley, Harkin, Boxer and Feinstein?

  1. That sucks, pardon my vulgarity! I’m surprised though – most of the other stories I’ve heard where a Rep. has gotten involved, the Embassy sent something a little more detailed than the usual form letter.

  2. Hang in there – I’ve got a good feeling we’ll be traveling together, which means you should get your approval on the 25th and our G&R ceremony will be scheduled for the same date…

  3. I keep checking your blog to see if you have been given the OK to travel. Hang in there, honey.
