Unsettling
Was I the only one to find the drum sequence in the opening ceremony last night a little unsettling? In one respect it was fabulous – 2008 drummers on their Fou drums – awe-inspiring, really; but the message I suspect was meant behind it was a bit troubling.

I think it being unsettling was the point, although I am sure you understand that we are not supposed to acknowledge that.
I definitely agree!! It was awesome, but quite creepy at the same time. I like how the commentors were talking about how the drummers had been instructed to smile a lot so that they’d come across a little less intimidating… hahahaha… I don’t think it worked.
I missed that part of the ceremony, but I think the Olympics this year are not about games–it is purely about politics and showing the world what they are capable of, on or off the field. There are so many things that I could say about that, but perhaps it is better if I don’t.
First to comment on this post; I did find the olympic opening ceremony a bit creepy. It was just mind boggling how they got that many people to be totally synchronized. They are like machines out there. It really just shows you how controlled the Chinese are mind and body.
Now I also wanted to say that I have read a few of your posts via apronstringsaflutter and I wanted to let you know that I think that you are very couragious (did I spell that right) and a very strong woman to take on the responsibility of an adopted child. I’m sure with time things will get easier as he adjusts and you adjust more too. When you called yourself a bad mom I could relate–but I don’t think you are a bad mom. I have many times felt like a “bad mom” but it is a learning experience from the start. Raising a child does not come with a manual so it is inevitable that we will make mistakes. It seems that you made the right decision at the zoo to remove yourselves and also a good remedy to find a sling. That is actually a very good idea because your son will feel more secure and in time he will become more independent because of the extra love and attachement. So, I wish you luck and I will add you to my blogroll. Apronstringsaflutter was right when she said you share your heart. Keep sharing!
