Male pattern baldness
Has any of you out there ever shaved your child’s head in the hope that the hair will grow back thicker and fuller? My nanny is advocating doing this to Oscar, and I know that it is a common practice in Asia. Is there anything to back up this claim? I’m not looking for scientific evidence, of course, but any empirical evidence you might have would be nice. Oscar has nice, long hair in a few places, but most of his head is actually fairly sparsely covered. Am I insane to be considering doing this?
Oh I wish I Knew, I am not into wives tales but if you are daring, give it a go. I think kids look cute bald.
BTW, tagging you for a quick meme over at my blog if you are interested.

Meliah’s hair was shaved by her Nannies in Vietnam when she was 5 months old. She had a lot of hair before they shaved it so I can only suspect it was her excessive sweating that was the reason for the shave. Well lets just say her brother’s hair(Same age) was not shaved and hers is much longer and fuller. I was worried at first because it was very course and rough when we first got her. It is now smooth as silk.
I would give it a try. Heck he is a boy and boys look cute bald. I am considering cutting Khai’s but he has such pretty
hair.
Best of luck to you on your new adoption.I have been following along and I am so excited for you. What country is she from?
Heather-
Mommy to Meliah and Khai 16 months old from Lang son, Vietnam
Thanks, you two. I’m leaning towards giving it a try.
Heather, she’s from Thailand, which will make it much easier when we need to go back to the kids’ birth countries later. I’m really looking forward to traveling there (sometime next year).
I have heard it works!
