While the viewpoint in the linked article is not popular with some of the more vocal adoptive parents in the international adoption community, I think this is at least worth a read. . .

  4. I guess I’m the freak of the week (what else is new) because I honestly thought it was a great article, and can see both sides. We want to give our children “back” what they didn’t get by growing up in their homeland, but at the same time, it is difficult when we aren’t from the culture ourselves. And let’s not forget, they are now American citizens as well…it all gets very muddled, doesn’t it? I think that balance is the most important. And balance is tough even in families without adopted children.
